Learn More About West Rogers Park

West Rogers Park has seen many changes. Thirty years ago, when The ARK opened its current location at California and Arthur, the neighborhood was filled with synagogues and Devon was lined with one Jewish business after another. Residential streets filled with families looking for a safe home and kosher and Jewish shops within walking distance. Relatives and friends lived near each other in the tight knit, friendly community. Eventually, the Jewish population in West Rogers Park decreased with many moving to the suburbs. Synagogues and businesses closed and the neighborhood became more diverse. In recent year, however, the Jewish population has increased. Today, West Rogers Park is a diverse and supportive neighborhood where many people again find a thriving Jewish community.
