The Anna and Jacob Fine Social Services Center (Chicago and Northbrook) matches clients with experienced case managers who create individualized plans using The ARK’s wide array of free services: sorting financial issues, managing budgets, assisting in applying for government benefits and providing community referrals. Case managers serve as our clients’ advocate and link to their evolving services needs.
The ARK’s Goldie Bachmann Luftig Health Center and Minnie & Dr. Peter H. Okner, D.D.S., Dental Clinic provide free, high-quality and comprehensive care on-site, and through partnered referrals. Dedicated to helping our clients, our volunteer professionals have impressive reputations in their field. Our Woods Pharmacy and Fins Pharmacy Annex (Chicago and Northbrook) enable quick and affordable access to medications, and our optical clinic provides exams, eye care, and access to stylish glasses.
The ARK’s job professionals partner with clients to identify employment goals and direction. Custom resumes and cover letters are created, network strategy is developed and rigorous job training programs and intensive interviewing clinics are established, all of which help with building a client’s professional identity. Clients receive the tools and training to grow their confidence and succeed. Our professionals continuously build and nurture relationships with employers to assist them in recruiting and retaining a successful team and remain available to both client and employer for assistance during the first year. The Employment Department also offers on-site seminars, discussion groups and ongoing career support to organizations, schools and businesses, free of charge.
Our Intensive Day Program (IDP) assists the needs of adults in the community affected by chronic mental illness. Through full day therapeutic groups and activities, and case management and counseling, our staff of licensed mental health professionals provide an alternative to isolation, homelessness, and institutionalization.
The ARK’s Rhea Segal Food Pantry Program—perhaps our most well-known offering—is stocked with nutritious kosher food, and feeds over 2,500 people each year in our two locations (Chicago and Northbrook). In addition to food, toiletries and cleaning products are available. Our clients can also enjoy hot, kosher meals during set hours at Café ARK in our Chicago location.
The Sarnoff Levin Residence for the Homeless provides interim (up to 120 days) housing and support services for homeless individuals and families. It’s a safe haven, providing clients with relief from crisis, the ability to address issues, and start reclaiming their lives. Clients also have access to all ARK services, three kosher meals a day, Jewish classes, communal meals, and holiday celebrations.
“The ARK not only helped us regain financial stability, but also the peace of mind that comes from knowing that there is a safety net. They had such understanding – they didn’t make us feel judged.”
