The Ark is Hiring: Program Coordinator


The Ark, an iconic Jewish Human Service Agency, has served the Jewish community for more than 50 years. We create stability in people’s lives by providing free access to multiple supportive services, helping clients navigate the road to self-reliance. The Ark is seeking a fulltime Program Coordinator to play an integral role in addressing food insecurity and supporting volunteer programs within the Jewish community. As a member of the Pantry and Volunteer Services team, this individual will help ensure that clients and volunteers have a positive experience while providing nutritious food and essential household items to those in need. The candidate will report directly to the Food Pantry Manager and have daily interaction with other staff, volunteers, case managers and clients. There will be opportunities for growth in this position. 


  • Run daily pantry operation, ensuring client needs are met while creating a comfortable and supportive atmosphere
  • Schedule, train, and delegate tasks to volunteers, facilitate a positive relationship between clients and volunteers
  • Assist with food procurement; organize and track inventory, prepare client orders
  • Receive deliveries, donations, and oversee shipments coming in and out of pantry, screen calls regarding potential donations
  • Assist Volunteer Department with food-sorting events and other projects as needed
  • Additional responsibilities seasonally in relation to holidays
  • Provide tours and lead programs for community groups


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred and relevant work experience
  • Strong leadership, able to quickly identify potential issues and provide resolution
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt to last minute changes, and respond quickly
  • Highly organized with aptitude for detail, able to prioritize tasks effectively
  • An understanding of, and belief in, the importance of food security for all
  • Experience in project management and food insecurity a plus


  • Strong and efficient time management in a fast-paced environment
  • Upbeat and energetic disposition
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Obtain food safety certification within 3 months of hire (Ark to provide)
  • Flexibility to work some evenings and Sundays preferred
  • Comfortable speaking to community groups
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about Jewish customs and rules related to Kosher food (Kashrut)
  • Adherence to COVID-19 prevention guidelines


  • $40,000-45,000 salary
