FOOD PANTRY COORDINATOR

The Ark, an iconic Jewish Human Service Agency, has served the Jewish community for the past 50 years. We create stability in peoples’ lives by providing free access to multiple supportive services, helping clients navigate the road to self-reliance. The Ark is seeking a full time Food Pantry Coordinator to play an integral role in addressing food insecurity within the Jewish community. As a member of the Pantry team, this individual will ensure that all individuals have a positive experience while providing nutritious food and essential household items. The candidate will report directly to the Food Pantry Manager and have daily interaction with other staff, volunteers, case managers and clients. There will be opportunities for growth in this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Run daily pantry operation, ensuring client needs are met while creating a comfortable and supportive atmosphere
  • Schedule, train, and delegate tasks to volunteers, facilitate a positive relationship between clients and volunteers
  • Assist with food procurement; organize and track inventory, prepare client orders
  • Receive deliveries, donations, and oversee shipments coming in and out of pantry, screen calls regarding potential donations
  • Research and identify cost savings
  • Additional responsibilities seasonally in relation to holidays

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Strong leadership, able to quickly identify potential issues and provide resolution
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems and think on your feet
  • Highly organized with aptitude for detail, able to prioritize tasks effectively, and exceptional time management skills

REQUIREMENTS

  • Upbeat and energetic disposition
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds
  • Obtain food safety certification within 6 months (Ark to provide)
  • Strong/efficient time management in fast paced environment
  • Ability to work some evenings and occasional Sundays
  • Must have knowledge of Jewish customs and understand rules of Kashrut
