Your Role

During Ambassador Week, the many voices of our volunteers and supporters came together to spread awareness of The Ark’s vital work and the transformative renovation and expansion of our home in West Rogers Park. At any time, encourage your friends, family, and social networks to learn more, donate, or even volunteer alongside you. Your passion and dedication will help us reach more people and get them excited about The Ark.

Here’s How it Works

You can choose to participate and connect with your network in ways that are meaningful to you and through whatever communications are natural for you, whether email, text message, phone call, or social media. There are many ways you can encourage your friends and family to get involved. Start by taking action yourself, here’s how:

For your outreach, you can copy and paste our sample language below, share The Ark’s social posts, or even create a Facebook fundraiser. Consider adding a personal touch by creating your own message. By sharing your own story, you’ll show others The Ark’s impact, not only on the people we serve, but also on you. Consider the following questions to add detail and craft a personalized message as a part of your outreach.

  • Why is The Ark important to you?
  • Why is volunteering for The Ark meaningful to you?
  • Describe a meaningful interaction or activity that stands out to you. (Remember not to share any identifying information about any clients you met.)
  • What are you most looking forward to about The Ark’s new building?
  • Why should others learn more about The Ark and get involved?

If you have any questions or need any support, please reach out to Dani Greenwald, Development Manager, at 773-973-0335 or ambassadors@arkchicago.org.

See the Toolkit below and click on each of the sections for sample copy and images that you can use to craft your message.

Dear Friends and Family,

Some of you know, I volunteer for an amazing organization called The Ark, which provides free, comprehensive human services to all Chicagoland Jews who are facing life’s challenges and in need of a lifeline of support. Every year, The Ark helps thousands of clients receive medical and dental care; prescription medications; kosher food; mental health services; assistance with finances, employment, and housing; and more. It’s a warm and welcoming community that treats every client, volunteer, and staff member with kindness and respect.

The Ark is expanding to meet the growing needs of our community and needs our support to help make their work possible. It’s a momentous year, and The Ark has embarked on a major renovation and expansion of its home in West Rogers Park, so that their extraordinary team of professionals may serve clients with the dignity they deserve.

I am passionate about The Ark’s vital work and would love for you to learn more and support the organization alongside me. There are many ways you can get involved:

  • Visit The Ark’s Building Our Future website to learn more about the new building and donate to support the project.
  • Follow The Ark on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn) to stay in the loop.
  • Sign up for The Ark’s digital newsletter (from the bottom of the website home page) for the latest news and updates.
  • Collect and donate kosher food for the Food Pantry. Check out The Ark’s Food Pantry wish list for most needed items. Call 224-341-9143 to arrange a drop off at 6450 N. California Ave., Chicago, or drop off at 3100 Dundee Rd, Suite 802, Northbrook from Mon.-Thurs., 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
  • Invite The Ark to your Jewish community group for an educational program designed for all ages.

It would mean so much to me if you joined me in supporting The Ark. Thank you for helping to make a difference for individuals and families in our community!

Thank you!

Do you prefer to call your friends and family or speak with them in person rather than sending a written message?

We certainly encourage you to strike up a conversation and share what The Ark means to you. You’re welcome to use the sample language in our Toolkit as a guide for key points and suggestions for how your friends and family can get involved at The Ark.
